Landscaping with Rocks
Landscaped gardens have become a common feature with most properties and the novelty is wearing off slowly. But you can add a touch of innovation and creativity to your landscaped gardens by opting for rock decoration. Rock landscaping will spice up the décor, impart individuality and add some very necessary pizzazz to lift the look of your garden/yard or ground/lawn.
Rock gardens have become very popular nowadays and the key point which you should always keep in mind while landscaping with rocks is to keep it natural. If you observe a rocky terrain you will find that there is no symmetry in the way the rocks are arranged by nature. This is what you need to emulate. Your rocks should be irregularly shaped, irregularly placed or arranged asymmetrically, to impart a natural look.
Multi hued Rocks can be used to border a paved or graveled walkway or meandering pathway. An artificial waterfall in your sprawling ground will look nicer and more natural if the bottom is embedded with rocks and the gushing water falls on those rocks making a sweet gurgling sound.
You can also use rocks to pave the upper sides of your duck pond. It will add a quaint touch to your water body.
Rocks can be used as stepping stones near or over your water body, they can be incorporated in the fences or boundary walls to add a medieval aura, a collection of differently sized and colored rocks can flag off one flower garden from another. They can be used to border the bases of trees and create an old world seating arrangement. Thus incorporating rocks into your landscaping itinerary is an excellent idea for rocks lend themselves to versatility.
Larger rocks will of course remain stationary. But pebble rocks when used for pathways/walks tend to get picked up/travel when they are walked on or during inclement weather. So you have to be careful before opting for pebble rocks. Flag stone is a better option instead.
Rocks with their uneven and jutting surfaces and irregular shapes tend to give a rugged look and can break the monotony of a soft look created largely through flowering plants. If you want, regular shaped even surfaced rocks are also available in gardening and landscaping supplies stores. Or you may pick up a collection of rocks when you go sightseeing in a rocky region. Riverbed rock landscaping or pond bed or brook bed rock landscaping has caught on like a craze in contemporary times.
