A garden or a lawn or a yard should be well decorated, classy and sophisticated because it is an extension of your epicurean personality and inner elegance. First impression is often the last impression.

An arrestingly mesmerizing lawn or garden will draw envious wows from your guests and visitors and neighbors. Consequently garden landscaping has attained a lot of prominence in recent times and many people are finally paying as much attention to the looks of their garden as they pay to their own looks and get up.

In this article I will show you a few tricks and tips to enhance the look of your lawn/garden.

Take the help of a landscape designer or better still that of landscaping software, try out each design idea and see through the preview facility what suits you best or looks good. You have to plan a lot in advance before getting down to the actual job of dirtying your hands with soil.

Add a hint of greenery to your garden décor. Arrange the plants, bushes/shrubs, flowering plants and shrubs and trees in a well spaced out planned manner so that the garden doesn’t look overcrowded or clumsy. Don’t place same colored plants together. Intersperse bright colorful flowers with light hued ones to create a symmetrical and eye catching pattern.

You can add a rock garden if you like.

Water bodies help to lift the look of your yard instantly. A pool in your backyard or a cute little duck pond in the front lawn or if you have sprawling grounds, a lake with boating facilities is an excellent idea.

A quaint little wooden footbridge arching over the duck pond will add a fairy tale quality to your garden décor.

Proper lighting arrangements should be made to illuminate the garden at night. Wrought iron Victorian lampposts look extremely classy. You can conceal the lights inside the leafy foliage up on trees or inside bushes but focus the light on the décor.

Marble statues, fountains or if space permits, an artificial waterfall with a rocky bed will make your grounds look natural.

Now about the fauna – a birdhouse or scampering rabbits or guinea pigs will infuse life and vitality into your landscaping endeavor.

Also opt for meandering paved/graveled walkways and stone walls and steps.
