Landscaping Lights

Modern landscaping design aesthetics are incomplete without proper lighting arrangements to illuminate and focus attention on the landscaping décor and ornamentations.

In this article I will inform you about the various outdoor landscape lighting arrangements that are currently much in vogue.

Malibu Landscape Lights

Outdoor lights are often commonly positioned in such a way as to create a runway effect. It is nothing but a pool walkway lined on both sides by landscape path lights. Usually solar powered lamps are used for this fixture which light up automatically when the darkness of dusk settles down. Their main purpose is to illuminate and not highlight.

Low Voltage Landscape Lights

Not only do they light up your garden, driveway, poolside, entry areas and walkways, but they also lend a luminescent haze that recreates/replicates a full moon night. A soft white glow will bathe the plant silhouettes and architectural accent pieces in their resplendent splendor.

There can be endless lighting ideas.

Uplighting

This will focus the light and bring the centerpiece of attention like a gazebo or an arbor or a tree or shrub into the limelight. The location, maturity, size and type of feature that needs to be highlighted will determine the kind of lighting fixture that needs to be used. Low voltage lighting fixtures have dimmers on them and direct the light outwards.

Downlighting/Moonlighting

Bullet lamps are used for this technique and the lamps are positioned high above the ground, often above the eye level. They illuminate general outdoor areas for aesthetics and security.

Concealed Lighting

Here the lamps or lighting fixtures are concealed from the public view and are often installed inside trees and directed towards the focal point of attraction that needs to be highlighted.

Silhouette Lighting/Backlighting

Spacious outdoor surface areas such as walls are lighted up in this technique with the help of a wash light fixture. The objects that are placed before the lighting create an optical illusion of being a silhouette.

You can use wooden lamps with copper accents and leaded stained glass specialty glass to decorate and light up your water gardens, pathways, patios etc. They are easy to mount and beautifully enhance the accent pieces in your garden.

Incorporating Proper lighting arrangements in your landscaping décor also ensures that the beauty of your carefully manicured lawn doesn’t fade into the darkness of oblivion as soon as dusk descends. Your garden will continue to glow with beauty even during the night.
