Driveway Landscaping
Anyone driving their car will gauge the home owner’s personality by casting a glance at the surroundings. You may have a beautifully maintained lawn and an elegantly spruced up house that would attract anybody but if your driveway is not up to the mark then it spoils the whole ambience, for this is the first thing that the outsiders use when they enter your property. Thus driveway landscaping has become an integral part of the property. An attractive driveway will do most of your work of impressing people.
Paving your driveway
You need to pay attention to the materials that you would use for paving your driveway. There are varieties of materials that you can make use of and some are quite cheap too. The loose stones are excellent material for your driveway paving and inexpensive too. Due to their natural look they are quite appealing though this may be a hindrance in snowy locations or when you walk on it.
The commonly used material is asphalt which is practical. If you want a rural look then you can go in for chip and tar which is a combination of asphalt and stone. You can also use different colored stones such as browns and tans and not necessarily the traditional black or grays. Concrete could be another choice, but this material tends to crack. Thus it needs perfect installation especially at the construction joints.
Accenting your driveway
Bricks also give a very inviting look to your driveway but they are costly. If you want you can use them as accents rather than have them laid out on your entire driveway. You could also use natural stones such as granite especially as borders. Driveway landscaping can cost a lot since the whole driveway needs lot of material. However to reduce your cost you can use the expensive materials as accents.
Add green
Add color to your driveway by putting up some shrubs and trees on either sides of your driveway. You can also have a trellis with climbing vines wound around it which is going to accentuate the complete outdoor look.
Lights for your driveway
Driveway landscaping is incomplete without lighting. Installing the right type of lights will highlight the whole effect. You can have staggered lamps along the edges or runway lighting or even have a large street lamp to add more drama to the whole setting.
Administer a shape
You can try experiments with your driveway landscaping by giving it a little curvy dimension or a circular one with either a statue or a fountain in the middle.
Wall and fence for decoration
Having a wall along the side looks really great and to top it off you can have built in planters with flowers spilling out. If you share your driveway with your neighbor have a wall made of shrubs and flowers to separate your entrance and it will also help spice up your driveway.
